Problems reinstalling - looking for profile on old server

Postby rfIPS » Thu Aug 06, 2009 4:02 pm

We recently installed the new version of Intelligant for a user. I need to move her projects from the old version to the new version. My problem: we have changed servers since I installed the old version. I cannot open or reinstall or do anything with the old version because it wants to point to the old server. The old server is not available to rejoin to the network, it’s toast. How am I able to access her old projects? Is there a registry key I can hack? Or, better, is there a folder where the projects are stored that I can just move them in Windows Explorer?

Thanks!

We do have a way to recover old project files. In the data directory IntelliGantt uses is a simple Access database that contains the list of projects IntelliGantt knows about. One of the columns in this Access database is the directory path where the IntelliGantt project resides. You should be able to open the TDP.MDB file and manually change the path to a server that is available. You should literally see a directory path in the Workspaces table of the access db file.

Now this assumes that roaming profiles were being used, in which case I'm assuming that your network data will still be available even though that server went down. However, if all your project data was in fact stored on that server then its plan B.

Plan B is you always have a copy of every project on your local machine. However, you will have to edit the MDB file so that a) the shared path information is removed and b) the 'shared' flag is set to false. This means you'll have to re-invite everyone to your project again, but the good news is it will be available again.

If you'd like, you can send the tdp.MDB file to support@teamdirection.com and we will update it for you. It should be located in

C:\Documents and Settings\<user account>\Application Data\TeamDirection\TDProject

I apologize for the delay in my reply, I was out last week. Thank you for this info. I need to talk with someone else in our office that knows more about where the data was stored before I can proceed with this.

I know we're using roaming profiles. Where do I search for the TDP.MDB file? On the client or the server?

Since you have roaming profiles set up the data will be on the server. It will still be under a user profile directory-- wherever your root profile entrypoint is, then the user account, then (for IntelliGantt Plus) .\TeamDirection\TDProject. Within TDProject is where tdp.mdb resides.

Or you can issue this command

dir tdp.mdb /s

from a root directory and let windows do the searching for you.

Very so sorry! I goofed. We *used* to use roaming profiles but have removed them when we added the new server.Does this change the instructions.

I found a tdp file here: C:\Documents and Settings\user.name\Application Data\TeamDirection\ProjectSpaces.

I opened up the file but don't see a column referencing the directory path but I do see a column called "Hyperlink". The hyperlinks point to a path on our Sharepoint server. I see about 15 projects in the list in the column "ObjectID". User is using Access 2007.
